NOR logic

Nor logic is a type of logic gate that produces a logic 1 output only when all inputs are simultaneously at logic 0. It is a logically inverted OR gate that gives a '1' output only when both inputs are '0'. Nor logic is used as a logic primitive and can be implemented using only NOR logic gates and inverters. The folded-NOR and folded-NAND array permit successive levels of NOR or NAND gates to be fed back and cascaded to implement multilevel logic designs.1 A folded-NOR array is shown in Figure 9.26. The device consists of a single NOR plane, but by feeding back successive levels of NOR gates, one can construct a NOR array of arbitrary depth. This is very useful in implementing multilevel logic designs with NOR logic. The folded-back NOR terms perform asynchronous feedback. If the J-K or D flip-flops of Figures 9.3 and 9.4 are added to the folded-NOR array, one has a very powerful multilevel logic circuit.
