Statecharts can be used for generation of C or HDL (hardware description language) code for implementation purposes, but the representation is most commonly used today for creating executable specifications [32] as opposed to final implementations.

The lipid profile indicators analyzed were TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, non-HDL-C and the TC/HDL-C and TG/HDL-C ratios. The TC, TG, and HDL-C values were obtained using a Labmax 240 premium (Labtest) analyzer, applying the turbidimetry method. LDL-C was determined using the formula proposed by Friedewald, Levy, and Fredrickson (1972). The TC/HDL-C and TG/HDL-C ratios were obtained by dividing TC and TG by HDL-C and non-HDL-C by the formula: non-HDL-C = TC – HDL-C (Précoma et al., 2019). For purposes of analyzing these variables, the standardised residuals were generated by linear regression models between age (independent variable) and each lipid profile indicator (dependent variable), stratified by sex. This procedure aims at attenuating the influence of sexual maturation on lipid profile indicators and has been used in another study (Aadland, Kvalheim, Anderssen, Resaland, & Andersen, 2018). The residuals represent the standardised values of TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C, non-HDL-C, TC/HDL-C and TG/HDL-C, excluding the possible confounding effect that the variables sex and age may have on these indicators.
