The investigated structures are mock-up masonries (100 cm × 120 cm × 25 cm) under controlled conditions (22 ± 3°C temperature and RH 55 ± 10%), made with traditional techniques and materials: brick (new ‘red brick’ and reused historic brick), mortar (premixed lime mortar and traditional lime mortar) and plaster (lime plaster, venetian lime and marble powder plaster – Marmorino – venetian lime and crushed brick plaster – Cocciopesto) [28]. These materials were combined to recreate different types of masonries similar to what is possible to find in the Venetian area and study their behaviour as a function of boundary conditions. Physical characterisation of the materials was carried out to identify density [kg m−3], porosity [%] and thermal conductivity [W m−1K−1], capillary absorption coefficient [(g cm−2 s1/2] and imbibition coefficient [%].
