Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic produced by strains of Streptomyces kanamyceticus, which is effective against several Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (Puius, Stievater & Srikrishnan, 2006). It is used to treat severe bacterial infections, asthma and tuberculosis (Desai, Hancock & Finlay, 2002; Sweeney et al., 2005). Her et al. (2010) studied the effect of kanamycin concentration (2%, 10% and 15%, w/v) on its SFD particle morphology. The SEM images revealed that the SFD powder obtained from feed containing kanamycin at 2% (w/v) did not form a spherical shape (Figure 4.7[a]). Thus, it was considered that the above concentration was not sufficient to form a spherical surface. But, SFD powder from 10% (Figure 4.8[b]) and 15% kanamycin solutions ((Figure 4.7[c])) resulted in spherical particles with a porous surface.

The current work reports the use of kanamycin (KYN) as a green corrosion inhibitor on mild steel in a 0.5 M HCl medium. Kanamycin, is a Streptomyces kanamyceticusderived aminoglycoside antibiotic. The injection of kanamycin is used to treat severe bacterial infections in different body parts [21]. Figure 1 shows the structure of kanamycin (KYN).
