Odontoid calcification and crowned dens syndrome: data from a Chinese center

CT imaging demonstrated calcific deposits existed in the transverse ligament of atlas in all patients. Calcific deposits in other periodontoid structures were also found, including alar ligaments, apical ligament, and superior longitudinal fibers of the cruciate ligament. Calcific deposits were also noticed in some patients in median atlantoaxial joint.
