The grade of wastepaper categorized as old newspaper (ONP) includes newspapers originating from households (with advertising slicks), over-issues, news blanks, and groundwood computer printout paper. In 1992, 55% of all newsprint paper produced was recovered. As Table 4.5indicates, approximately one-third of ONP is recycled into newsprint, with recycled paperboard, exports, and other uses also important. Other uses include building products, molded pulp products, animal bedding, and hydromulch.
