In China, bamboo fiber is known as ‘Air Vitamin' or ‘long-lived element'. It contains anions that are helpful in purifying blood, calming the nervous system, relieving allergy symptoms, and according to Munjal and Kashyap (2015), this is beneficial to the health of the human body and skin. Bamboo is 100% natural, containing cellulosic fiber, hemicellulose, ash, and lignin (Li et al. 2014). It is one of the fastest-growing plants, which grows effectively without pesticides, fertilizers, or herbicides (Paulose 2019). The main manufacturing methods currently being operated in the production of sustainable bamboo textile are chemically based and mechanically based processes (Waite 2010). Yet, the fiber is completely biodegradable and is a solution for many of the environmental problems in the textile industry, as its manufacture from raw materials to decomposition does not cause any harmful effects to the environment (Paulose 2019).

We used rare earth oxides produced by Foshan Lansu New Materials Co., Ltd. with the properties in Table 1. Ceramic fibres were provided by Qifeng Mineral Fibers Co., Ltd. in Zhoukou City, Henan Province and used as reinforcing fibres; natural bamboo fibres were provided by Zhenghe Bamboo Textile Co., Ltd. In Fujian, phenol-formaldehyde resin, which was modified with cashew nut shell liquid, was produced by Sumitomo in Japan and used as the cementing agent. The fillers (barium sulphate powder, aluminum oxide powder, copper powder, granite powder, and tire powder) were purchased from the market.

Considering the current economic recession, environmental pollution, global warming, lack of alternative textile resources, the harmful environmental impact of mass production and industrialization, and the necessity of preserving the earth for future generations, bamboo as a resource is a crucial piece that needs to be developed in producing eco-friendly and sustainable products. Hence, research to find eco-friendly extraction methods for bamboo textile fiber is a valid research endeavor.
