Five hundred milligrams of TBA2[V6O13{(OCH2)3C–NH(BOC)}2]·2DMA (0.31 mmol) were dissolved in 10 ml of acetonitrile. Then this reddish solution was dropped into 5 mL of acetonitrile containing 2 g of sodium perchlorate hydrate (16 mmol) under stirring. Immediately after the addition of the first drops, a dark orange precipitate formed. The resulting mixture is stirred for 2 h. 350 mg of Na2[V6O13{(OCH2)3C–NH(BOC)}2]·6H2O (0.27 mmol) is recovered by centrifugation (5000 rpm) and washed with acetonitrile and diethyl ether. Yield: 87% based on vanadium. Anal. Calcd. (found) for C18H44N2Na2O29V6: C, 19.7(18.6); H, 4.0(4.25); N, 2.5(2.6); Na, 4.16(3.97); V, 27.7(25.7).

The ionic strength was adjusted by sodium perchlorate (I = 0.1 M). A stock solution of EGCG ([L] = 4.36 × 10−5 M) was prepared by ionic strength solution. A stock solution of metal (M) was prepared in doubly-distilled water and titrated against EDTA with muroxide or Eriochrome black-T as indicators to verify the final concentration: Copper perchlorate solution (Cu(ClO4)2; 1.36 × 10−2 M) and zinc perchlorate solution (Zn(ClO4)2; 9.43 × 10−3 M). The solutions were diluted afterwards as needed. On the other hand, once the suitable pH was determined the ionic strength solution’s pH was adjusted by phosphate buffer solution (K2HPO4; 15.0836 g and KH2PO4; 1.8236 g per 1 L) and used henceforth.

Chemical-grade 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE), purchased from the Vecton company (St. Petersburg, Russia), was used as a diluent. Chemical-grade perchloric acid and sodium perchlorate monohydrate were purchased from Reachim, Russia. Deionized water from a NANOPURE purification system (Thermo Scientific, USA) of 18 MΩ cm−1 resistivity was used for the preparation of all aqueous solutions. Stock aqueous solutions of lanthanides(III) and Y(III) were prepared from the chemical grade perchlorate salts (Reachim, Russia) in deionized water and standardized by complexometric titration with EDTA using xylenol orange as an indicator. The initial concentration of metal ions was 2 × 10–6 M for each element. All lanthanides(III) (except Pm) were present in the initial aqueous phase when simultaneous extraction of Ln(III) was studied. The organic phase was prepared by dissolving precisely weighed quantities of the extractants in DCE.
