It is well recognized that the application of high strength micro-alloyed steel could significantly promote the production and utilization of bulk steel materials to the environment friendly direction by “reduction”. For example, vanadium-containing HRB500 reinforcing bar has been verified to be able to reduce the consumption of steel by 10% when replacing HRB400, and 20% when replacing HRB335. Currently, China produces more than 200 million tons of steel bars each year, and according to calculation, if all were replaced by HRB500 reinforcing bar, the reduction of iron concentrate, standard coal, and CO2 emissions would be more than 320 million tons, 120 million tons, and 400 million tons, respectively. Due to the implementation of new reinforcing bar standard in China on November 1st, 2018, the vanadium market appears to be quite optimistic in the future.
