One of the classic examples of implementing change process is while submitting part warranty to the customers via ECO as international quality standards requirement for manufacturing that keep on enhancing with most of the industrial product manufacturers calling for their suppliers to utilize production part approval process (PPAP) while implementing change to the product or process. The PPAP process should satisfy customer’s requirement of producing a new part or product, ECO needs to be implemented along with the documents authorizing the modification and requesting needs to be included in the PPAP package. A customer may request a PPAP at any time throughout the life of a product. For suppliers, this means preserving a quality system that develops, records every one of the requirements of a PPAP submission. It certifies that all areas of the design and production process have been assessed extensively to guarantee that high-quality product will certainly be enabled for customer delivery. Part submission warrant is a recap of the whole PPAP submission that specifies the declaration of material, associated drawing changes, part number, inspection results, and any deviations that are covered by the PPAP submission.
Management and Leadership – The Two Key Skills

Earlier, in Chapter 6, we discussed the Theta cell, which was designed to produce a headrest for Toyota. This cell was one of five value streams in this plant. This cell was U-shaped in design. It was a tier two value stream and was staffed with 16 workers. The design of the cell was such that at modest defect rates, the profitability was very labor-sensitive. Target profitability required the productivity be 100 headrests/person/day (hpppd). Following PPAP and a brief start-up period, the cell leveled out at 65 hpppd. (PPAP is an abbreviation for the production parts approval process, which is a pre-production standard in the automotive industry.)
Methodologies/Tools That the Auditor Should Be Familiar With

PPAP document package includes some other documents such as PFMEA, control plan, drawing, MSA, and capability data. Besides ISIR document, other documents like that of PPAP are normally required by Volkswagen and Hyundai for release of a product and process. The PPAP is like the older ISIR plus much more, unless your customer has a specific requirement for using their ISIR within their system. ISIR is a summary of the initial sample being presented at whatever state.

Quality is a long-term investment. At present, the collaboration among the project contractor and component providers has become tighter for large projects, which leads to higher complexity of quality control and improvement. Therefore, in order to cope with a large complex project with characteristics of cross-culture and cross-organization, some effective management methods have been applied (Flynn, Schroeder, & Sakakibara, 1994; Nikoofal & Gümüş, 2018). For example, because every party of the project, no matter at which level, plays an important role in ensuring higher level quality and high resource utilization, all members should be encouraged to participate in making quality improvement plans and take responsibility for the final optimal plans decision (Pyzdek & Keller, 2013). Therefore, the TQM has been widely adopted in large project management (Ahire, 1997; Cruz & Pinedo, 2008; Psomas, Vouzas, & Kafetzopoulos, 2014; Serban, 2015). Also, a variety of quality management tools have been widely used for product development in order to control the risk cost, such as the Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). In general, a project manager should effectively integrate project design and quality control plan selection to improve overall project quality. The problem of how to improve quality of a project has been well studied in the literature. Previous research has proposed various quality management models through the analysis of different stages of the quality management framework and structure (Kuei, Madu, & Lin, 2001; Rahman, 2006). Li, Liu, Fang, and Xu. (2014) established a multilevel quality planning model for complex equipment development. That model is mainly used to solve the optimization problem from the perspective of resource utilization. Liu, Hipel Keith, Fang, and Yuan (2012) designed a hierarchical decision-making model for selecting the supply chain quality control plan.
