Case Study for SC Fabrication on AA7050 Alloy Through FSP
Published in Namrata Gangil, Arshad Noor Siddiquee, Sachin Maheshwari, Composite Fabrication on Age-Hardened Alloy using Friction Stir Processing, 2020

The analysis starts with a full cross-section of the SC samples. The polished and etched cross-section is observed under low magnification and the image so obtained is known as macrograph. The macrograph is depicted with clarity important characteristic zones of the SCs. A macrograph showing typical characteristic zone in cross-section of one of the etched samples is shown in Figure 4.4.
Process enhancement using hydrogen-induced shielding: H2-induced A-TIG welding process

Test samples were extracted from the weld coupon by keeping the weld center exposed for investigation. These samples were further used for investigations like optical emission spectroscopy (OES – Foundry Master, Make: World Wide Analytic System), Optical Microscopy (OM – DMILM, Make: Leica), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM – JEOL_JSM_6510LV), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), X-Ray diffraction analysis (XRD), and micro-hardness (Metatech_MVH-1) tests. The weld bead profiles were measured on traveling measuring microscope and subsequent macrograph analysis by Image–J software.
Microstructural analysis and fatigue fracture behavior of rail steel

If all conditions of ASTM E399 standard are established, KQ represents KIc. At the end macrograph photos are taken with low magnification from the fracture surfaces. Finally, the specimens are sectioned under test for failure characteristics will be observed by scanning electron microscopy.
