Lugs

A lug is a projecting part of an object, typically made from cast steel and joined to the frame tubes by brazing or silver soldering, that serves as a fastening point for lifting the object. These are devices intended for connecting wires and cables to connection points of electrical equipment. In general, wire connectors can be permanent such as welded, crimped or thermo compression bonds; or semi-permanent such as soldered, wrapped or screwed joints. The most commonly used are lugs, crimps, splices, compression-screw lugs, set screws, binding-head screw terminals, eyelets, clamp-on types, split-bolt types, and straight-coupling types.

For the removable lifting lugs, the maximum stress intensity was 13.3 MPa, and they are located at the intersection area of the outboard lifting lugs and the VV outer shell. The removable lifting lugs have the advantage of disassembling conveniently. For the nonremovable lifting lugs, the maximum stress intensity was 15.3 MPa, and they are located at the intersection area of the inboard lifting lugs and the VV outer shell. The nonremovable lifting lugs have the advantage of convenient processing and fabrication, especially a lower cost.
