DWR

Durable water repellent (DWR) refers to a chemical coating or finish applied to clothing or other materials that provides resistance to water and prevents it from penetrating the surface. This coating is designed to be long-lasting and withstand repeated exposure to water without losing its effectiveness. The outer layer of the cold weather PPC with a durable water repellent (DWR) finish (silicone or fluoropolymer) may be removed due to multiple cleaning or may become ineffective due to dirt, detergent residues or fabric softeners. Hence, in order to get back the required protection it is necessary to reapply the DWR finish, which is available in sports outlets or outdoor clothing retailers.

MVTR: Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate according to the JIS L-1099 method B1:2012. A higher value reflects better water vapor permeability. RCT: Resistance to Conductive heat Transfer according to ASTM D1518 – 14; a higher value reflects a higher thermal insulation. Air permeability was tested according to EN-ISO 9237:1995 and water column according to ISO 811:1981. Material composition and density are according to manufacturer. Thickness was measured under a compression of 735 Pa. DWR: Durable Water Repellency finish.
