Front impact attenuator design for a race car
Published in International Journal of Crashworthiness, 2022
Greg Wheatley, Mohammad Zaeimi
The surfaces of each of the steel plates were prepared for bonding. Any paint or rust were removed with rust remover and scrubbed with a wire brush. The surface was then washed with plain detergent and water and allowed to dry, to prevent any chemical contamination to the resin bonds. The JCM composites work area was set up in preparation for manufacturing the impact attenuator. 400 mL of polyester resin was catalysed with 4 mL of MEKP catalyst, and first brushed onto the contact area of the steel plate to become tacky. The veil of the first layer of the honeycomb was wet out with resin and adhered to the wet surface of the steel plate. The veil was wet out with resin when it became translucent, as is common practice when manufacturing fibreglass parts. This wet out method was employed on both veiled sides of the 10 layers, to ensure the bond was formed with adequate adhesive.
Experimental study on the optimized anion fracturing fluid for improving coal samples permeability

Figure 5 shows the photos of the anionic fracturing fluids treated with different gel breakers and the corresponding dried residues. The anionic fracturing fluid treated with kerosene exhibits a thin layer of white floating mass on the liquid surface. In contrast, thick layers of white flocculants are observed on the surface of the rust remover, diesel, and gasoline treated anionic fracturing fluids. Table 5 lists the residue contents of the anionic fracturing fluids treated with different gel breaker. It is clear that the kerosene gel breaker gives the lowest residue content with the values less than 0.1 g/L, consistent with the amounts of floating matters observed in the anionic fracturing fluids. Therefore, kerosene is the most optimal gel breaker among the four tested gel breakers.
Binary mixtures of 2-methyl cyclohexanone with various functional groups (Thermodynamic and acoustic properties)

The various functional groups plays an important role in chemical engineering of industrial reactions. Isobutyric acid are utilised as solvents for different applications where attractive scents and flavour attributes are significant. The potassium salt of isobutyric acid is successful as a solvency advertiser in the burning extraction of mercaptans from sharp oil stocks. 2-Methyl cyclohexanone is used as a solvent for varnishes, lacquers, and plastics; and as a rust remover. 4-methoxy benzyl alcohol has been used in the preparation of semiconductors, nanosheets and nanocrystals. 4-Hydroxybenzoic acid is primarily known as the basis for the preparation of its esters, known as parabens, which are used as preservatives in cosmetics and some ophthalmic solutions.
