Mike 21C

Mike 21C is a mathematical model developed by the Danish Hydraulic Institute in 2009 for simulating water level, flow, and sediment transport in rivers and estuaries. Some bend flow simulations have been reported by reduced-order models which neglect the secondary flow altogether (Ye & McCorquodale 1998, Zarrati et al. 2005, Lai 2010) and certain models (Jia & Wang 1999, Duan et al. 2001, Kassem & Chaudhry 2002, Dulal et al. 2010), and software (iRIC-Nays, Mike 21C, and Telemac-2D/Sisyphe) neglect the influence of secondary flow on the hydrodynamics, but do include the effect of the secondary flow on the bed shear stress direction through the sediment transport by means of a linear parameterization.

MIKE 21C is a two-dimensional mathematical model for the simulation of water level, flow and sediment transport in rivers and estuaries. The hydrodynamic part of the model solves the vertically integrated Saint–Venant equations over a curvilinear grid (continuity and conservation of momentum) in two directions.
