Berea sandstone is a type of porous medium used in petroleum cores that is composed of approximately 80% quartz, 5% feldspar, 8% kaolinite clay, and 6% calcite. Berea sandstone is of Carboniferous age and is composed of quartz (`80 %), feldspar (~5 %), clay, predominantly kaolinite (~8 %), and calcite (~6 %). It has a porosity of about 19 % (Green and Wang 1986). It is medium-grained, well sorted and subangular with quartz overgrowths (Bruhn 1972; Winkler, 1983).
