Benzoxazine is a type of resin system that forms a ring structure containing both oxygen and nitrogen atoms, as indicated by the resonance signals of methylene protons in the oxazine ring. Benzoxazine (BZ) is a single benzene ring fused to another six-membered heterocycle containing one oxygen atom and a single nitrogen atom. There are a number of possible isomeric benzoxazines depending upon the relative position of the two hetero atoms and the degrees of oxidation of this oxazine ring system. 3,4-Dihydro-2H-1,3-benzoxazine is one kind of hydrogenated derivative of benzoxazine. When the benzene ring is replaced by naphthalene, the corresponding oxazine becomes naphthoxazine

Materials such as high strength carbon fibre and hybrid hot cured benzoxazine resin with unique mechanical and flammability properties were selected. The composite face sheets developed in here with aluminium honeycomb core were selected for making the sandwich structure suitable for lightweight structural design. The technical details of the materials and the processes involved in the manufacturing of face sheets and sandwich panels are discussed in this section.
