You can imagine that genes in the same regulon have coordinated expression, just as genes in operons do. However, all of the genes in a given regulon are not necessarily expressed at the same time in a single transcript, as is the general rule for genes in an operon.

It has been reported that Bacillus spp. members possess an intrinsically high level of resistance to hostile and extreme conditions, such as salinity and heavy metal exposition.[10,24,25] Even more, Bacillus spp. presents the ability to sporulate when environmental conditions are unfavorable. This differentiation process is governed by the transcription factor Spo0A, which directly controls the expression of a regulon composed of ∼120 genes.[26]
