Evidence shows a qualitative acceptance of the system and a quantitative betterment after 3 weeks of inspiratory training. These findings suggest that the developed system can be an essential complementary tool in pulmonary rehabilitation programs since it targets improving respiratory muscle strength through testing and training, and patients can use it at home. Furthermore, the proposed system can be a valuable tool for many populations (patients with dyspnea symptoms, reduced exercise tolerance, etc.), especially useful in the coming post-COVID-19 period (Hull et al., 2020). More importantly, the proposed system can be a valuable tool to investigate effective protocols that improve respiratory muscle strength or other pulmonary functions since few controlled clinical trials have examined the addition of inspiratory muscle training in rehabilitation programs for patients after viral pneumonia due to COVID-19.
