IAQ problems can be difficult to diagnose. Preventive medicine can go a long way in avoiding problems before they occur. Jack Halliwell, who has helped resolve hundreds of IAQ problems in office buildings, says: “The first principle is that IAQ problems, by nature, are multifactorial. In other words, IAQ problems are created by a combination of conditions (the interaction of a number of building related problems) occurring simultaneously. Finding the cause of an IAQ problem can be similar to solving simultaneous equations, and in this instance, each equation represents a different building system. HVAC, automatic temperature controls, operations and maintenance, renovations and the building envelope itself can all contribute to, or even create the problem.”

Moreover, for practitioners who use relative measures, we suggest to combine the measure of reduction in risk (RIR), which tells us directly how much the risk has been reduced. For example, an epidemiology and preventive medicine research group wants to determine how much a flu shot effectively reduced the flu infection rate during the flu season; or a team of operation researchers wants to figure it out whether implementing a new method will reduce the existing rate. We introduce some measures of relative risk between two non-zero proportion parameters π0 (e.g., from the non-treatment or control group) and π1 (e.g., from the treatment group) in Table 1 (see Lachin, 2000).

The effectiveness of the WASH/Malaria Educational Community and Nutrition According to reports, malaria can be prevented by supplying iron-rich nutrition and maintaining (WASH) washing, sanitization, and hygienic circumstances.[1] Over the last two decades, the practice of preventive medicine and control on vector causing protozoal infection is found to be most useful tactics against malaria across the globe. Preventive chemotherapy is therefore the use of drugs, either in combination or alone, to stop malaria infections and the effects that follow. It usually involves complete doses utilization of an anti-malarial drugs to vulnerable populations (including pregnant women, infants, and children under the age of five). The preventive medicine should be given to non-infected person as well as at the early stage of infection to avoid peak of malarial risk.[2] Moreover, number of medicines are already available for the management and treatment of malaria. However, as per WHO Model List of Essential Medicines there are four medicines that are recommended for prophylactic treatment of malaria with or without combination. In this regard, the combinations including ART are found to be the most effective.[3,4] Moreover, with the emergence of malaria resistance, ART has been used successfully in the treatment of malaria. Though numerous semi-synthetic derivatives of ART have been created due to ART’s poor bioavailability, which limits its effectiveness.[5] Thus, resistance is most likely to develop when the same class of anti-malarial drugs is widely used.

Applications of smart textiles in healthcare range from surgical uses of a single fibre to complex wearable and auxiliary systems for personalised care [663]. The ability to identify that an individual has declining health and subsequently alert healthcare providers, potentially allows smart textiles to be used in preventive medicine and in managing pre-existing disease, whether as an inpatient or in the wider community. Sensors may be embedded directly into the fabric or embedded into a coating applied to the fabric [664].
