Overview:

Building a professional profile as a researcher can support career advancement at every stage, helping identify and consolidate networks and boost reach and impact for their work. This course will cover why this matters, and how to approach it strategically  The workshop will focus on finding participants’ professional brand; using social media to their professional advantage; identifying newsworthy research and how to work with journalists ; getting the most from professional and academic conferences both online and in person; and what to do should they ever be the target of online harassment.

About the Trainer

Elaine

Elaine is the Digital Communications Director at Taylor & Francis and a communications professional with two decades’ experience of engaging and inspiring a wide range of audiences. She leads a team of specialists in media relations, social media, and content development. In recent years I’ve developed digital training programs, created podcasts, and wrote for media outlets as diverse as The Guardian, the London School of Economics and various journals. Her passion is showcasing the importance and value of research and helping researchers to do the same for their work, through careful and clever use of the various tools at all our disposal.
