In summary, multiple factors play a role in the perception of hunger and the satiety value of the foods and the beverages that we ingest. Color, texture, crunch value, and beverage viscosity all play a role in their appeal. Accounting for these factors may allow for higher satiety and decreased caloric intake.
General Conclusions and Areas of Future Research

A number of important questions remain to be answered concerning possible advantages of carbohydrate-versus fat-based diets. Do carbohydrates extend the time to fatigue for a dieter who engages in endurance exercise? Is blood glucose sustained, thus reducing the tendency to protein catabolism? And does the low satiety value of carbohydrates reduce long-term client acceptance of dietary restrictions? Does a high-fat diet spare tissue protein by stimulating ketone metabolism in the muscles and the brain? And why is a high intake of trans-fat associated with weight gain? Is this merely a question of a less healthy overall lifestyle in those who elect to eat trans-fat?

The new program encourages people to use the points wisely by eating foods rich in protein and fiber, which have a high satiety value and help to lose weight in a healthier and more nutritious way. Exercise is encouraged, and group support is provided at local meetings and via the Internet to provide behavioral modification techniques as well as emotional support.

In this study, adherence to the LE + FF diet resulted in positive consequences on weight-loss maintenance. This result was consistence with limited studies in this regard (2,20). Nevertheless, almost all previous investigations have examined the influences of a particular FF on weight maintenance, not weight-loss maintenance, and we found only one study that assessed the effects of FF on weight-loss maintenance (2). Adherence to LE diets, characterized by greater intake of vegetables and whole grains, may assist weight-loss maintenance (14). A green tea–caffeine mixture improved weight-loss maintenance by enhancing (increasing) thermogenesis and fat oxidation among overweight subjects (2). Recent evidence did not support weight gain among individuals adhering to daily nuts consumption (26). A portion of the energy in nuts is not assimilated because of low digestibility, and also subjects can retrieve the calories in nuts due to their high satiety value (26). Due to the fact that weight-loss maintenance programs almost were not effective in the preventing weight regain in obese patients (1), consumption of FF might be a helpful approach to prevent the weight regain among individuals with weight-loss programs (1).
