These junction boxes are compliant with IP65/IP54, depending upon location and environment. This will be helpful in fulfilling requirements like dust free, vermin free, and weatherproof. The junction box could be made from mild steel (MS) sheet metal, aluminium die cast, or thermoplastics. Low-diameter DC cables with cable glands from strings will be fed into the input side and higher-diameter DC cables from the output side of junction boxes. The junction box may be AC or DC depending upon requirements. A typical junction box is shown in Figure 9.4.

The energy supply distribution unit obtains 48 V input voltage from the secondary junction box, and the maximum input power is 200 W. It consists of the DC/DC step-down module, anti-surge impact circuit, filter circuit, short circuit protection, over-current voltage protection, external sensor, and the internal electronic control system components. The energy supply distribution unit also provides external power output of 24 VDC with a maximum output power of 200 W. The power output is 12VDC, and the maximum output power is 150 W. The power output is 5 VDC, and the maximum output power is 100 W (Figure 4). To prevent system overheating, all power modules are equipped with heat dissipation devices.
