Float chamberThe float chamber maintains the fuel at a constant level which is necessary for normal operation of a carburettor.

Where air is to be mixed with the fuel before it is introduced into the cylinders, it may be done by means of a carburetor or by “air injection.” A carburetor is a device in which the correct air-fuel mixture is formed, at all loads and speeds of the engine, by passing air over or through gasoline or the more volatile fuels. The term is also applied when, in this device, the fuel is atomized or sprayed into the current of incoming air. A simplified diagram of a basic carburetor is shown in Figure 5-3.
Fluid Flow

The engine in a lawn mower has a carburetor; it mixes air and fuel to burn in the combustion chamber. The carburetor contains a venturi, or a narrowing in the throat of the carburetor, where the gas and air mix (Figure 9.26). In this region, air flows quickly, reducing the pressure here. As a result of this lower pressure, gas flows into the venturi from a higher-pressure bowl of gas. A needle valve controls the amount of gas in the bowl. The lower pressure is responsible not only for the gas flow into the venturi, but also for mixing the gas and air more thoroughly because the gas evaporates more easily at lower pressures.
Experimental investigation of four stroke single cylinder SI engine by modified intake manifold by using computational fluid dynamics

Venturi outcome is used in carburetors to draw the fuel into the engine’s intake system. But the installation of the venturi in intake manifold will allow an increase in the velocity with minimum pressure drop. The swirling movement in the intake manifold due to venturi will help maximum mixing of air with the fuel:
