Vacuum Tubes
Published in Kevin Robinson, Practical Audio Electronics, 2020
As is the case with transistors, triodes can be used to amplify, buffer, and switch. The example characteristic curves shown in Figure 19.7, although quite different from the equivalent transistor curves given previously in Chapter 17, do share many general characteristics in common with those transistor curves.
High-Power Vacuum Devices
Published in Jerry C. Whitaker, The RF Transmission Systems Handbook, 2017
The power triode is a three-element device commonly used in a wide variety of RF generators. Triodes have three internal elements: the cathode, control grid, and plate. Most tubes are cylindrically symmetrical. The filament or cathode structure, the grid, and the anode are all cylindrical in shape and are mounted with the axis of each cylinder along the center line of the tube, as illustrated in Figure 7.6.

The RF technology as one of the old communications with an application range from small space to satellite communication covering a broad range of capabilities for devices to user’s needs. Due to the significant impact of RF which replaces wired to wireless means of communication in our daily life’s improvement is an evident that comes with flexibility, reduced costs of wiring, efficiency etc. RF technology-based transfer supports communication industries, alternative to existing wired systems as a valuable supplement [73]. Hence, the service providers have taken it as a preferred scheme of communication based on the users’ demand for wireless products [74]. Furthermore, the services that operate under wired are now operating more with wireless means of communications attracting multi-trillion-dollar investments in the communication sector. During the previous era, RF was largely deployed to broadcast radio signals used for wireless communication at that time especially, with the invention of vacuum triode and vacuum tube for voice signals in the advancement of radio transmission. Further, the amplitude modulation introduced in [75] followed by the frequency modulation (FM) [76] are techniques for broadcasting RF signals and many more RF techniques recently introduced. Hence, as RF evolve cellular mobile radios are presented and increasingly growing with personal communication services during the development of cellular mobile analogue- telephones in [77] for commercial purposes. Recently RF-based VL-NOMA communication is in abundance within the reach of service providers and consumers.
Driving circuitry of a full-frame area array charge-coupled device (CCD) supporting multiple output modes and electronic image motion compensation
Published in Instrumentation Science & Technology, 2020
When the charge-coupled device uses four output channels, the output image has an obvious seam or strip effect, which is caused by the inconsistency of transmission characteristics between output channels, which is called channel nonuniformity. There are many factors that cause the nonuniformity of the output channel. The most important is that the on-chip amplifier and the off chip emitter triode of each channel have different gain, offset and nonlinear characteristics. These differences make the output channel somewhat asymmetrical. In this way, when uniform light is used to irradiate the entire charge-coupled device, the average gray value of the image obtained in each output channel is also different. To eliminate this type of joint, the nonuniformity between channels needs to be corrected.
Numerical modeling of a high power triode-based self-excited oscillator: a path forward more efficient designs and a better frequency stability of low cost high power RF sources

It contains a tank circuit formed by components L, C and Rp in parallel. Rp represents a complex application circuit coupled inductively to the tank. This application circuit is a variable serial tank circuit, which can be seen as a resistance Rp around the operating point. The triode is figured as a static symbol with inter electrode capacitances: CGP between grid and plate, CGC between grid and cathode, CPC between plate and cathode. It is biased by a source on plate named Plate_biasing and by a source on Grid formed by the voltage source Grid_indirect_biasing and resistance Rg. Rg adds a self-biasing component to the grid bias.
