WSN needs to monitor the continuous real-time data. Each sensor network consists of sensor, microcontroller, data transmitter or receiver, antenna and power supply. The topology of WSN depends on real-time application. The research of the mobility (On-board) sensor node, where sensor node attached to locomotive or rail wagon is adopted. The data for movable network are combined with GPS coordinate and monitor the whole track line of train journey. The base station acts as gateway for data transmission to remote server. The sensor node transmit data to base station using small range communication such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and long-range communication such as GPRS, GSM or satellite to transmit collected data back to server at control center. The base station has a powerful processor and memory than the sensor node to transmit and receive data from multiple sensors. But the train monitoring system has a battery-powered sensor node in carriage and base station is located in train. Hence, the power is available for node and base station is obtained from train engine.

A lighting controller module consists of a microprocessor control unit, a dimming control circuit, an energy calculation unit, a power supply module, and a Bluetooth wireless communication module, in which the energy calculation unit reports power consumption to the control center via the Bluetooth wireless communication module. The microprocessor control unit integrates Bluetooth wireless communication module through a UART interface to receive the command from the control center, where users turn on/off LED lights or fluorescent lamps and adjust their brightness via the dimming control circuit to simultaneously report the current lighting load status. Furthermore, users may adjust the brightness required based on the amount of sunlight exposure for efficient lighting fixture management and energy saving.
Reliability Statistics
Published in Ali J Jamnia, Khaled Atua, Executing Design for Reliability within the Product Life Cycle, 2019
A chemical plant uses sterilized water produced by a water purification device. However, prior to bringing a new batch on line, a conductivity sensor measures its conductivity level in order to ensure that it meets the sterilization requirements. Once the measurements are done, the data is communicated to a control center via a Bluetooth module. The Bluetooth connection has a 3% probability of failure at every trial of communication. If the communication failed with the control center for more than 5 minutes after the batch is completed, the system has to be rebooted, and another measurement has to be performed. This action causes delay, or the produced batch may lose sterility. What is the probability that there will be no communication in the first, second, and third connectivity trials? P(k=3)=(1−0.03)3−1(0.03)=0.028or2.8%

This solution is based on the paradigms of Smart Cities and Internet of Things, seeking the fusion of data and the use of intelligent infrastructure. The functionality of the existing smart traffic light has been extended by adding WiFi antennas and developing segmentation software. This system as a whole can carry out a great number of tasks: acquire and transmit real-time images of their coverage locations to a traffic control center, communicate with pedestrians in possession of mobile devices or devices installed in vehicles via WiFi and/or Bluetooth signals, assistive crossing for visually impaired pedestrians, among many other traffic regulation tasks. Furthermore, the data collection performed by this device contributes to the creation of a training database.
