Wireless access point

A wireless access point (WAP) is a device that connects a group of wireless devices into a single cable device, typically a router, using the IEEE 802.11 family of standards. The transmission from a WAP can be received by any network interface card (NIC) that has joined a specific wireless local area network (LAN). To create wireless communication between a mobile device on a music stand and a Google Glass, Bluetooth was selected as the means of wireless connection. Google Glass supports Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for network communication, but Wi-Fi direct, peer-to-peer communication without a wireless access point, is not currently supported on Google Glass.
