Optimizing and Monitoring Your Web Site to Increase Traffic
Published in Tom Hutchison, Paul Allen, Web Marketing for the Music Business, 2013
Other tips include: Have a useful 404 page—the error page that a user gets when a link guides them to a non-existent page. You can customize your 404 page with suitable content and provide a link back to your root (home) page.Use better anchor text for links. The anchor text is the clickable text that users see as a result of a link (indicated by parentheses in the <a ref=> tag). Rather than use the text “click here,” provide useful content in the anchor text. For example, instead of <a ref="http://www.bandname.com/tour-dates/gigs">Click Here</a>, replace the words Click Here with the band name and subject matter of the page, “Band Name Gigs.”Optimize your use of images, including a suitable file name for the image; instead of image0013.gif, use “Bandname-at-Staples-Center” for the image name. Also, use the “alt” attribute to provide information about the picture. Your photos are more likely to turn up in a Google image search by a user.Use heading tags to emphasize important text. Those are the <h1>, <h2>, etc. tags that create subject headings in the body of text on your page. There are six sizes, with <h1> being the most important. In addition to providing a visual cue for users (much like newspaper headlines), this text may end up in part of your search engine results.

Off-Site Optimization (Link Building) is defined as a process that enables the website to enhance its ranking on the results page of the search engine. These factors operate outside the bounds of web pages. Such ranking factors are not controlled entirely by the publisher. Off-page optimization deals extensively with SEO link building. All internet search engines contemplate Back Linking (BL) in their ranking algorithms. The back link is a hyperlink to the target site from an external site. The effectiveness of the text used in the back link or the anchor text is considered by all popular search engines. Off-page SEO is a long-term and time-consuming process.
An ontology learning based approach for focused web crawling using combined normalized pointwise mutual information and Resnik algorithm
Published in International Journal of Computers and Applications, 2022
P. R. Joe Dhanith, B. Surendiran
The combined NPMI and Resnik algorithm enhances the focused crawler’s performance. Each unvisited hyperlink contains five documents in this focused crawler, including full-page text, anchor text, title text, bold text, and heading text. The similarity between the given topic and the five extracted records of each unexplored URL is calculated using the combined Normalized Point Wise Mutual Information and Resnik algorithm. The priority of each unexplored URL is calculated by using the combined NPMI and Resnik score. The laboratory results show that the framework proposed improves the effectiveness of the focused_crawler. In conclusion, for focused crawlers, the methodology discussed is efficient and crucial.
EREL: an Entity Recognition and Linking algorithm
Published in Journal of Information and Telecommunication, 2018
Cuong Duc Nguyen, Trong Hai Duong
The dictionary of mentions is constructed in advance. For each entity, its Wikipedia name, re-directed name and case-sensitive name are added to the dictionary. EREL does not use the anchor text, the surface name of an outbound URL link in a reference document, as the mention of an entity as in several other papers.
