Reliability, availability and maintainability analyses for railway infrastructure management

The literature shows that the RAMS techniques can be used by railway engineers to forecast or to modal railway track failures. The RAMS parameters that are reliability, availability, maintainability, failure rate, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time To Failure (MTTF), Mean Down Time (MDT), Mean Distance To Failure (MDTF), Mean Distance Between Failure (MDBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) can be used for an effective railway track maintenance management system. In this study, the RAM definitions and their mathematical equations are presented below.
