From launch to transmission: satellite communication theory and SNG
Published in Jonathan Higgins, Satellite Newsgathering, 2012
Imaginary symmetrical lines of reference run from the North to the South Poles – these are called lines of longitude (‘meridians’), some of which are shown in Figure 2.6. The line that runs through Greenwich in London, UK, is termed the Greenwich Meridian, and is the 0° longitude reference point. Lines run North to South around the complete 360° circumference of the Earth. Any point can be referred to as being at a certain point °E or °W, depending in which direction around the Earth the point is being referenced. (Satellite orbital positions in the geostationary arc are also referred to in the same way.)

The Prime Meridian runs through the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, England. The Royal Observatory has an interesting website that discusses how the Prime Meridian has “moved” throughout history and what explanations are at the root of the movement (https://www.rmg.co.uk/royal-observatory/history). Discuss two of the key movements and why they occurred.
Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and the Utilization of Strategic Alliance: The Effect of Spatiality in Emerging Markets Economy
Published in Production & Manufacturing Research, 2021
The study took place in Enugu State Nigeria. The state is located between Latitudes 5° 58 1N and 7° 081N of the Equator and Longitude 7° 081E and 7° 481E of the Greenwich Meridian as was shown in Figure 1. The state as an emerging market economy is one of the few commercial centres in Nigeria and is currently a good ground for small scale enterprises and entrepreneurs. This can be seen in areas such as Ngwo, An industrial hub for soft drink industries in Nigeria and Enugu North, An industrial hub for plastics, paint, metal and non-metallic industries. These enterprises has increased the revenue base of the government which stood in excess of 2 billion naira in the third quarter of 2017 and has continue to rise ever since (NBC 2017 as cited in Ko et al., 2020). The area is also partnering China on foreign direct investment in order to make her an industrial nerve center in Nigeria. These achievements made this area suitable for this study.

This study took place in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. Onitsha is one of the prominent commercial hubs of Nigeria and it is approximately 100 km from the state capital, Akwa. The area is located geographically between Latitude 06° 04.58″ N and Latitude 06° 10.00″ N of the Equator and Longitude 06° 44.59″ E and longitude 06° 48.52″ E of the Greenwich Meridian as was indicated in Figure 1. The city is currently attracting extensive industrial activities. These industrial activities can be seen in the establishment of various small, medium and large-scale industries in and around the city.

The solar time angle at mid-point is presented as; standard clock time at the mid-point of the period i.e. between 1300 and 1400 hr, ; longitude of the centre of the local time zone (degrees west of Greenwich); longitude of the station (degrees west of Greenwich); Seasonal correction for solar time (hr)
