The term “acrylic” is derived from those products that contain acrylic acid or methacrylic acid. Acrylic resins are generally polymer or copolymers of vinyl monomer such as acrylic acid, styrene, methacrylic acid, acrylonitrile, hydroxyl ethylmethacrylate,21,37 etc. WB acrylic polymers resins are used in the preparation of WB acrylic coatings.38 WB acrylic coatings are also known as acrylic latex coatings. Acrylic resins are used in the application of coatings and adhesives and show excellent durability and weather resistance property.39

Acrylic resins are the homo-polymers or copolymers based on acrylic acid and their esters. However, polymers based on styrene are also classified as acrylic resins. Thus acrylic resins are structurally macromolecules of saturated C–C chain obtained by the addition of individual monomer units across the vinyl group. The experimental method, used for synthesis of acrylic resins, is explained here [2,4]
