Polybenzoxazine is a high-performance polymer that has excellent intrinsic flame retardance, limited water uptake, low dielectric constant, and high heat resistance. The precursors of polybenzoxazine are formed from phenols and formaldehyde in the presence of aliphatic or aromatic amines. The choice of phenol and amine permits design flexibility and tailoring of polymer properties. The most-investigated polybenzoxazine is derived from bisphenol-A and aniline. This benzoxazine is treated as a “benchmark” among polybenzoxazine and the properties of the new polybenzoxazine are compared with it. The material property balance of polybenzoxazines is excellent.

As an emerging high-performance polymer, polybenzoxazine (PBZ) exhibits high heat resistance, excellent intrinsic flame retardance, limited water uptake, and low dielectric constant [1–5]. Therefore, PBZ is very suitable for use as electronic encapsulation materials. However, PBZ also has low inherent thermal conductivity, which is very detrimental to the heat dissipation of electronic devices.
