Polyaspartic is an “aliphatic” polyurea (see Figure 7.4), comprised of aliphatic isocyanates (e.g., HDI) and amines (e.g., ethylenediamine). On the other hand, polyurea can be comprised of aliphatic or aromatic isocyanates (e.g., MDI).

NaCl, NaHCO3, Na2CO3, Na2SO4, CaCl2, and MgCl2.6H2O is A.R. grade and purchased from Beijing Chemical Company. Sodium of polyaspartic acid (PASP), sodium of polyepoxysuccinic acid (PESA), (1-hydroxyethylidene) bis-phosphonic acid tetrasodium salt (HEDP-4Na), ethylene diamine tetramethylene phosphonic acid sodium (EDTMPS), 2-phosphonobutane −1,2,4 -tricarboxylic acid (PBTCA), maleic acid-acrylic acid copolymer (MA-AA), amino trimethylene phosphonic acid (ATMPA), and hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride (HPMA) are supplied by Shandong Yousuo Chemical Technology Co., Ltd., China. The water used in experiments was the simulated formation of water and seawater, which were prepared on the basis of mineral compositions of the formation of water and seawater in the Bohai oilfield as shown in Table 1. The mass concentrations of Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, HCO3-, Cl-, and SO42- in the simulated formation water were 568.9, 228.9, 2551.9, 190.6, 5470.7, and 36.6 mg L-1, respectively, with the total mineralization was 9047.6 mg L-1. The mass concentrations of Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, HCO3-, Cl-, and SO42- in the simulated seawater were 455.9, 1370.0, 11593.1, 146.7, 20426.9, and 2697.5 mg L-1, respectively, with the total mineralization was 36690.0 mg L-1.
