Silage samples (chopped corn plants) containing aniline were incubated in an anaerobic chamber for 2 weeks at 28°C. After 3 days, aniline was biologically metabolized to formanilide, propioanilide, 3,4-dichloroaniline, and 3- and 4-chloroaniline (Lyons et al., 1985). Various microorganisms isolated from soil degraded aniline to acetanilide, 2-hydroxyacetanilide, 4-hydroxyaniline, and two unidentified phenols (Smith and Rosazza, 1974). In activated sludge, 20.5% mineralized to carbon dioxide after 5 days (Freitag et al., 1985). In the presence of suspended natural populations from unpolluted aquatic systems, the second-order microbial transformation rate constant determined in the laboratory was reported to be 1.1 ± 0.8 × 10−11 L/organism ⋅ h (Steen, 1991).

The application of liquid mixtures plays a key role in chemical, textile, and nuclear industries. The study of thermodynamic and transport properties of liquid mixtures gives valuable information about the nature of molecular interaction in the mixtures. The characteristic features of binary mixtures can be investigated based on optical (Infrared IR, UV-visible, Raman), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Dielectric and Ultrasonic studies [1,2]. The ultrasonic technique is an effective tool to provide inherent information about the molecular behaviour of liquids and solids owing to its ability to characterise physico-chemical behaviour of the medium. In non-destructive characterisation of binary mixtures with the ultrasonic technique, tremendous work has been reported in the literature to explore their physico-chemical behaviour [3–6]. 2,3-dichloroaniline (2,3-DCA) is a polar liquid of the aniline family, while methanol/ethanol is also a polar and self-associated liquid of the alcohol family. 2,3-DCA is the base substance for the synthesis of bioactive Schiff’s bases, azetidinones, thiazolidinones, pyrazolines, acetohydrazides and binary mixture reactions. It is an important chemical substance for agricultural fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, medicine, pigments, isocyanides, dyes, etc. Synthesis and dielectric properties of the binary mixture formed with 2,3-dichloroaniline with 2-ethoxyethanol, 2-methoxyethanol, and 2-propoxyethanol have been illustrated in the literature [7–11].
