Alloying copper with different amounts of nickel improves the mechanical strength [7,8], corrosion [9] and pitting resistance [10,11]. Cupronickel alloys have drawn much attention owing to their excellent corrosion resistance. Since they can be easily welded and assembled, they are considered a suitable choice for piping systems, heat exchangers, hulls, and other marine applications. These alloys are also highly resistant to corrosion in seawater and have anti-fouling properties with good resistance to biofouling [12–14]. Therefore, the use of cupronickel alloys for firefighting applications is growing in refineries due to these features. Joining and welding is an essential component of manufacturing technology [15]. The various types of gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) processes are used to produce high quality welds and are one of the most popular technologies for copper alloys welding in manufacturing industries [16–19].
