One of the most important measures in epidemiology research is related to vaccine efficacy or effectiveness of the diseases under study. The vaccine efficacy (VE) is defined as a proportionate reduction in disease attack rate between the unvaccinated and vaccinated study cohorts and calculated by means of the following equation;
