Exclusion criteria for both groups included individuals with a history of or currently having any developmental (e.g. delayed walking, muscular dystrophy), neurological (e.g. cerebral palsy, nerve injury), or orthopedic conditions (e.g. slipped capital femoral epiphysis, fracture) that would impact their gait or ability to jump were excluded. Those with a genetic predisposition to obesity (e.g. Prader-Willi syndrome) or taking any medications that might impact muscle function or for pain/inflammation were also excluded. Children with a BMI greater than the 99th percentile (severely obese) were excluded as potential interventions for those who are obese versus severely obese may differ depending on severity and presence of co-morbidities.
