Desmopressin [DDAVP; 1-deamino-8-D-arginine vasopressin], has N-terminal cysteine devoid of α amino group and L-arginine at 8th position form n-terminal replaced by its D-form the molecule has an increased half-life and hence can be used through oral, parenteral, and nasal routes. It is found to be effective in diabetes insipidus and nocturnal enuresis [126]. DDVAP is also a well-accepted hemostatic agent and can cause the release of coagulation factor VII, von Willebrand factor, and tissue-type plasminogen activator [142]. Hence, it is used to treat patients with Hemophilia A and type I von Willebrand disease [126].

The described battery was specifically designed for medical applications, which often require a reaction to the appearance of bodily liquids, for example in enuresis alarm systems, in disposable bed mats, in diapers, especially in those intended for children or unconscious adults, who have no means to communicate that the diaper is full. Other applications include use in storage facilities, where thaw water can activate the sensor with an e-ink display to indicate that there the freezing equipment has failed at some point in time.
