B. longum combined water extract of Pseudostellaria heterophylla could lessen the tumor size and prolong the survival time of melanoma-bearing mice (Fig. 1.8).

Jiuxiang Jianpi Yangwei (JJY) Powder is a TCM prescription composed of fried Aspongopus chinensis Dallas, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Pseudostellaria heterophylla (Miq.) Pax, Dioscorea oppositifolia L., Ziziphus zizyphus, Hordeum vulgare L. and Amomum villosum Lour. JJY is frequently used to treat spleen deficiency and stomach distension through invigorating the spleen, nourishing the stomach and eliminating food [19,20]. However, the patients’ compliance of powder is poor. Also, chewable tablets provide several conveniences including higher therapeutic efficacy and less gastrointestinal irritation.
