Rhodium-catalyzed oxidative cyclization of glucal 3-carbamates to oxazolidinone-protected mannosamine derivatives (Scheme 2)49 could be used to synthesize various allosamidin analogues. The stereoselectivity of anomeric centers relied on the properties of protective groups and solvents. It was proved that benzyl protection mainly produced a product of α-configuration. Solvents with lower polarity, such as hexane and benzene, also increased the anomeric proportion. Its formation was with a primary amide containing carbamate as a raw material.
