A Cochrane review including 28 trials with data reporting on 3960 women compared acupuncture with no intervention or placebo and found acupuncture for labor pain may be associated with less intense pain and reduced use of pharmacologic analgesia. Compared with no intervention or placebo, acupressure may be associated with less pain intensity [7]. Therefore, acupuncture and acupressure may have a minor role in reducing pain, increasing satisfaction with pain management, and reduced use of pharmacologic management.

There is incredible focal points to utilize pressure point massage as an approach to keep up the body’s well-being. The mending contact of pressure point massage declines strain, builds flow, and empowers the body to unwind profoundly. By alleviating pressure, acupressure therapies make solid protection from illness and improve well-being. The pressure point massage procedure can be used as a self-treatment and is simple to learn. The self-treatment pressure point massage is connected to utilizing the finger to apply weight to pressure point and weight focus (Abu et al., 2015).
Nutritional Disorders/Alternative Medicine

Chiropractic medicine is primarily oriented toward adjusting the spinal vertebra to eliminate any subluxation (an incomplete dislocation) that can cause impingement and pressure or irritation of the surrounding nerves. The distorted nerve messages can damage surrounding muscle or other tissues. Some practitioners (chiropractors) utilize a method they term contact reflex analysis (CRA) to incorporate physical therapy, nutrition, and acupressure/acupuncture in treating emotional, mental, and chemical factors that can produce tension in the spinal system and soft tissues. It has been used successfully in treatment of such disorders as carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) and reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD).
Feasibility of auricular acupressure as an adjunct treatment for neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome (NOWS)

A NOWS acupressure administration procedure was created and informed by the NTI to ensure optimum and consistent delivery in addition to current therapies (Figure 1). Standard of care for neonates experiencing withdrawal includes a variety of the following treatments to improve comfort: rooming in, breast feeding, swaddling, skin to skin, positioning, reduced stimulation, sound machines, and infant seats as needed and tolerated. Acupressure was administered as an adjunct to these standard therapies. Within 24 h of delivery, a certified and credentialed advanced practice provider applied acupressure stickers to one ear (left or right depending on access to site) in accordance with the NADA protocol acupuncture technique (Figure 2). Application occurred at designated points including, Shen Men, Liver, and Lung, with the neonate in the room with the mother. Acupressure administrators documented neonatal activity (such as breastfeeding, sleeping, skin to skin, swaddle, use of pacifier, environmental controls, or phototherapy) during acupressure placement in the medical record, and stickers remained in place for 24 h after the initial placement. Provider documentation was recorded by the PI following hospital discharge to ensure protocol adherence and fidelity.
Comparing the effect of acupressure with or without ice in LI-4 point on labour pain and anxiety levels during labour: a randomised controlled trial

The findings of our study, consistent with the literature, showed that acupressure on L4 could decrease labour pain. Despite the limitations noted above, the findings of this study confirmed the role of acupressure as an effective tool for the treatment of labour pain. However, acupressure, without ice or with ice, was not effective on level of anxiety. Decreasing the significant anxiety level in the touch group might have led to these negative results produced. Considering the advantages, such as the growing preference of women, researcher and health care providers, physiological delivery, and the safety and simplicity, it is recommend to use this method for managing labour pain.

Another method that improves the recovery of GIS motility is acupressure. Acupuncture and acupressure, which have been widely used in China for more than 4,000 years, are one of the oldest known medical therapies (Ng et al. 2013). Acupuncture involves inserting very thin needles through a person's skin, and acupressure is a manipulative therapy art that ensures the proper functioning of the energy gates by applying pressure on the acupuncture points on the whole body with the hands, fingers, palms, elbows, and knees (Gao 1997; Lee and Frazier 2011; Moradi et al. 2014). The philosophy of this treatment is based on the self-healing feature of the human body. Stimulation of the acupuncture points activates the Qi energy required for the healing of diseases in the body, regulates blood flow, and activates the release of chemicals such as beta-endorphin, serotonin, dopamine, and noradrenaline into the bloodstream by supporting the release of neurotransmitters and accelerating the transmission of electromagnetic signals, thus helping the body maintain its normal functions (Tsay and Chen 2003; Tsay 2004; Moradi et al. 2014). Acupressure technique is used to reduce back pain, low back pain, neck pain, labour pain, menstrual pain, pain due to muscle and tissue trauma, anxiety, stress, and gastrointestinal tract-related complaints (Tsay and Chen 2003; Tsay 2004; Lee and Frazier 2011; Ng et al. 2013; Chao et al. 2013; Wagner, 2015; Abadi et al. 2017). According to the results of animal and human experiments in which the effect of acupuncture on the GIS was investigated, acupuncture applied to the ST-36 point increased the strength of gastric muscle structure, thus initiating the GIS motility earlier (Shiotani et al. 2004; Chen et al. 2008).
