Neurological sequelae of SVCS include headache, altered mental status and more rarely, cerebral oedema.1,2 The link between venous congestion and raised intracranial pressure has been well documented. One 2009 case report describes a patient presenting with recurrent spontaneous CSF rhinorrhoea who was later found to have evidence of SVC obstruction second to idiopathic multifocal fibrosclerosis.3 A number of studies describe hydrocephalus associated with SVC obstruction, typically in paediatric patients following surgery for transposition of the great vessels.4,5
