Simulation of Enterprise Architecture for a Business Strategy
Published in Kenneth C. Hoffman, Christopher G. Glazner, William J. Bunting, Leonard A. Wojcik, Anne Cady, Enterprise Dynamics Sourcebook, 2013
The TechSys hybrid simulation model was implemented using the AnyLogic® soft-ware platform. AnyLogic is a flexible development platform for the development of deterministic or nondeterministic simulation models employing a wide array of simulation methodologies. This allows the creation of all three submodels within the same development environment, using the same timing and debugging engine, which greatly reduces the technical hurdles associated with creating hybrid simulation models. AnyLogic is a JAVA™-based application, and has the ability to export the model as a JAVA applet that can be run on any computer platform that has JAVA installed.

AnyLogic is a modeling environment that is written in Java and has become very popular in the recent years especially as it allows building not only discrete-event models but also agent based models and system dynamics models. Hybrid models of these three paradigms can also be developed using this object oriented modeling environment which runs on Windows, Mac and Linux.
An agent-based simulation to analyze trucking sector regulation policies

We have implemented an agent-based model that includes shipper, RFT company, company truck-driver, and owner truck-driver and their interactions in AnyLogic 8.5.1 simulation software. AnyLogic supports agent-based modeling, offers many ways to insert Java codes to create unforeseen features, and provides 2D and 3D animation of the model to follow the agents and interactions. The model is created on a GIS map so that truck-drivers can find routes with the lowest travel time between origins and destinations by Dijkstra bi-directional algorithm. Moreover, navigation on the routes of the GIS map provides the actual haul time and distance. The model is developed in a continuous time frame, and the temporal resolution is a minute. Hence, in every minute of the simulation, the latitude and longitude of the individual agent are traceable. The overall framework and the proposed decisions and associated models are explained in the following.
Review of simulation software for cyber-physical production systems with intelligent distributed production control
Published in International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing, 2023
N. Paape, J.A.W.M. Van Eekelen, M.A. Reniers
The first class of simulation software consists of all tools which have the required features for hybrid simulation of CPPSs with intelligent distributed production control. Currently, the only tool in this class is Anylogic. Anylogic is a commercial simulation tool that combines three different simulation paradigms: DES, ABS, and system dynamics (SD), although this review only focuses on the former two. In Anylogic all model components are agents, which in turn can be built up using (sub)agents, providing a modular and hierarchical modelling architecture.
Hybrid modelling of MTO/ETO manufacturing environments for performance assessment
Published in International Journal of Production Research, 2018
Cátia Barbosa, Américo Azevedo
The model was implemented using the Anylogic platform. The choice of the software considered the multi-method modelling possibility, which enabled building the models combining SD, DES and ABS. Anylogic is a software based on Java that allows combining the three modelling methods in the development of a single model.
