First, in contrast to HAZUS, which quantifies the content replacement cost as 100% of the building construction cost, we suggest the use of objective sources to calculate and assess content costs. Consulting firms, trade associations, industry organizations, and government bodies regularly conduct studies on various aspects of a typical organization for different regions and industry segments. Some of these aspects include space, content, and cost of contents in an entity. Historical values should be inflation adjusted using an appropriate location-specific inflation index.
