In the SI unit system, the base pressure unit is 1 Pa (pascal), which is the force of 1 N (newton) exerted on a square meter (1 Pa = 1 N/m2). In the cgs unit system, the pressure unit is 1 μb (microbar), which is the pressure induced by a force of 1 dyne per square centimeter (1 μb = 1 dyn/cm2; note, dyne - name and dyn - unit). The unit microbar was also named barye in some literary sources.

Here the fundamental units adopted are length (in centimeters), L; mass (in grams), M; and time (in seconds), T. This is the CGS system of units. Others are the British, or foot, pound, second (FPS) system and the MKS system, which is closely allied to the CGS system. Physical and engineering systems of units are widespread. In the physical system, centimeter, gram, and second are taken as basic units (that is why the system abbreviation is CGS). For engineering systems, meter, kilogram-force, and second are used (hence, the abbreviated name of the system—MKS unit system).

The magnetic susceptibility of the original ore and the roasted samples was measured using a susceptibility meter assembly for powder samples (Bartington, UK MS3 sensor, and a MS2G meter) connected to a computer for data display and saving. The samples were placed in 1 mL plastic vials for measurement after calibration using a calibration sample provided by the manufacturer. The MS2G meter had a field amplitude of 500 μT and an operating frequency of 1.3 kHz. The output results are dimensionless and measured using the centimeter–gram–second (cgs) system. Furthermore, the magnetic properties of the roasted samples were characterised using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM; 9600-1 L.D.J., U.S.A.) at room temperature in a maximum applied field of 15 kOe. From the obtained hysteresis loops, the saturation magnetisation (Ms), remanence magnetisation (Mr) and coercivity (Hc) were determined.
