The dimensions of the MBB represent the three main dimension sizes, as commonly for example used by Masad et al. (2005), Al-Rousan et al. (2007), and Kutay et al. (2011). They are referred to as longest dimension () or length, intermediate dimension () or width and shortest dimension () or thickness in the following. With these three dimensions, several basic form indices can be calculated. This definitions of the aggregates' dimensions are shown in Figure 10(a), where an example aggregate can be seen, framed by an MBB.
