The Design and Evaluation of a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Enabled Inpatient Safety Management System
Published in Marcelo M. Soares, Franscisco Rebelo, Advances in Usability Evaulation, 2013
Based on the abovementioned architecture, we developed a prototype using the following hardware and software components: 1) Nurse station workstation: Intel Pentium 4 CPU with 1GHz RAM personal computer with Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version; 2) Portable Devise Cart: the cart consisted of a tablet PC, (Acer N200, with Intel Pentium 4M CPU and 512MB RAM), an RFID reader (with built-in antenna) and APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). The passive-type 13.56 MHz RFID reader was attached to the back of the tablet PC via CF card. The tablet PC and RFID reader were powered by the UPS battery; 3) RFID Wristband: The wristbands used for this test were based on the Tag-it passive tag chip with 13.56 MHz frequency band. The wristbands used were pre-programmed with fictitious patient information; 4) Wireless Network: An 802.11b Cisco access point (AP) with a 50mA signal provided wireless connectivity. The access point was also configured to act as a DHCP server to allow the association of wireless clients; 5) Server with HIS Interface: we used an HP dl-385 as the server, with a software interface, developed by The Taiwan Electronic Data Processing Co. (TEDPC), to the hospital’s Patient Information System (PAS), The HIS software interface was setup using a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition OS and connected directly to the hospital’s network through an Ethernet network switch.
Exact Methods for Multi-Objective Integer Nonlinear Programming

All proposed exact algorithms and intelligent algorithms for MOINLP problem were coded in C# on Microsoft Visual Studio 2019. The fitting process was coded in Python in JupyterLab. All tests were executed on a computer with an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E7-4807@ 1.87-GHz computer with 32.00-GB RAM and Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
