SOX formalized specific reporting requirements for organizations. With a history of providing various reports to managers, information systems also deal with SOX-related reporting. The extensible business reporting language (XBRL) facilitates the organization in reporting information as required by the SOX and the Securities and Exchange Commission. Studies have found that XBRL promotes transparency in reporting and facilitates auditing, resulting in reduced auditing costs (Shan & Troshani, 2014).
