In order to interface the electronic circuits with the Raspberry Pi microcontroller, algorithms for matching the required specifications of this project are to be developed. In this case, a Python-based IDE (Integrated Development Environment), i.e. the Thonny editor which works on the Raspbian operating system (OS) was used to develop and test the algorithms. The Thonny editor is chosen because the tool consists of a built-in debugger which comes in handy when nasty bugs in a program are to be identified. Besides, the editor also allows sequential step-by-step coding evaluation, making it convenient for the user to check the syntax at every line. The interface of the Thonny editor in the Raspbian OS is shown in Figure 2.11.
