Literature Survey and Problem Statement
Published in Vinayak Bairagi, Mousami V. Munot, Research Methodology, 2019
Primary and secondary resources are important in the background research. (i) Primary source: It is a document, which is created while pursuing the research. It is written by a researcher who lived during the time period of his/her research and wrote about the findings about it later. Background research of primary sources is useful for the secondary source of background research. There are various types of primary sources available such as: newspaper articles, letters, raw data, diaries/memories (also known as a firsthand account), laws, photographs, posters, interview of persons working in the area, drawings, records of different institutes such as government organizations, reputed educational institutes, speeches of experts. These primary sources help to generate the information, which is important for background information. Primary source of research are generally based on experimentations carried out by other researchers, clinical trials, surveys, and qualitative studies.(ii) Secondary source: The secondary source of research takes help of primary source for the explanation about the background research. It also expresses the content of the background research. Secondary sources use the evidences of primary source to back up assertions. Secondary sources are generally based on systematic reviews, analysis of reviews, guidelines by other researchers etc.

Following the definition of these RQs, a detailed search and selection strategy was set to provide a complex overview of selected issues. Based on the nature of the scientific work and systematic review, the WEB OF SCIENCE database (WoS) was selected as the primary data source to search for relevant literature since it includes the most trusted global scientific databases in the world and provides a comprehensive selection of various journals through many different academic disciplines. The SCOPUS database was selected as a secondary source to supplement this primary source. Based on its wide selection of full-texts available and different searching approaches. The search through selected sources was conducted in multiple phases, starting on October 15, 2021, and ending on July 15, 2022. This approach provided the most updated overview of the studied issues.
Do bad experiences loom larger than good ones? The role of prior purchase experiences on the effectiveness of IS certifications

For confirmation of beliefs, no difference was found. Regardless of whether customers had one or many prior experiences in which their expectations were met, the trust-building effect of the certification was not affected. This finding is contrary to our expectations as we assumed that first-hand experience will have a stronger influence and override secondary trust sources in repeat purchase decisions. According to our data, however, it seems that customers’ perceptions are not changed as they did not learn about whether a certification’s assurances hold true. This may be due to the fact that the assurances were not demonstrably challenged. For instance, when an IS certificate assures data privacy and all e-commerce transactions were executed as expected, customers do not know whether their data was actually handled properly or just no repudiation became apparent. This is consistent with the findings of Fang et al. (2014) who found that first-hand experiences do not necessarily override or cancel out secondary sources of trust. In their analysis of structural trust in e-commerce, they found that perceived effectiveness of e-commerce institutional mechanisms as a secondary source of trust had a significant effect in initial and repeat online purchases.
